Will you be a Wing of Hope?
Help us provide a sheltered, safe haven to those most in need<3
Dear Friends,
You may have heard about our annual Butterfly Ball. But have you wondered why butterflies and end of life comfort care are intertwined? For those facing an end-of-life diagnosis, physical, mental and emotional changes occur through a series of stages, similar to a butterfly’s life cycle.
Upon first recognizing our time here is coming to an end, we may pause our busy lives and go back to basics. Like a caterpillar we might focus on survival, finding strength and managing basic needs.
At some point we cocoon, so we can rest and be protected while our transformation takes place. Gateway House of Peace, like a chrysalis, provides a sheltered, safe haven to those most in need.
At the final end-of-life, the focus is on releasing and letting go. Gateway’s caregivers are connected deeply to this mission and provide the guidance and comfort needed to not only our resident but also to those close to them.
Free at last, the butterfly emerges, spreads its wings and flies. Grief and sadness are a normal part of grieving, but the image of a butterfly might bring comfort to our loved ones as they remember our journey. The butterfly becomes a symbol of transformation. A symbol of hope. A way for them to feel continually connected to us.
Our home operates nonstop, 24 hours each day. Daily operating costs for each resident is over $450, for which our residents and their families are never billed. This kind of dignified care and compassion isn’t reimbursed by insurance. We need your support.
Our end of year appeal is Wings of Hope – Hope for those who deeply need this dignified end-of-life care. Hope to our residents, the lonely, the alone, veterans, homeless, and many others. With your help, our caregivers will continue to envelop them and our home can continue to provide sanctuary for this journey.
Will you help us continue our donor based community labor of love? Will you be a Wing of Hope? Your support is not only appreciated, it is valued beyond measure.
